For one of our early releases, we wanted something that spoke of the land from which our mezcal comes. And nothing does that better than Madrecuishe. This A. Karwinskii varietal is endemic to the pocket of Oaxaca where our mezcal is made and on just a short ride out of town you’ll see them lining the road side and filling the fields.
We also wanted something that tasted very different to our Espadín. This Madrecuishe is earthy and herbal with notes of pine, but surprisingly sweet on the nose. Incredibly smooth sipper, which given the ABV is 49.2%, is testament to the Cortés’ skills, from harvest right through to distillation.
